Another fountain was constructed between 1583-1584 by the mechanic of defensive works Latino Orsini in the Ruga Panigra, later known as Strata Larga (Wide Street-actually Kalokairinos av.) It seems that the fountain was supplied with water from a spring Orsini discovered when he excavated the moat “of the Palm-Trees” (Fossa dei datoli) opposite the Bethlehem Bastion (near the Hospital “Pananeion”). When later the spring dried up, Taiapiera connected the fountain to the aqueduct of Bembo. The fountain was probably situated in a place called Sivri Çeşme (pointed fountain), in the corner of the Recep Ağa Camii, where an ottoman public fountain (sebil), known only by photos, was later constructed.
