The church of Saint John the Baptist belonged to the Franciscan Brotherhood as well. It was raised in the 13th c. outside the old enceinte, in Via dello Spedale (modern 1821 str.). The building, which managed to survive up to these days, went under a series of modifications, first, when it was turned into a mosque and secondly when it was turned into a store and a warehouse. It has two aisles. The northern is wider and covered by a timber roof. A narrower quadrangular room to the East, with a barrel-vaulted roof, hosted probably the sanctuary. The two rectangular vaulted rooms on the eastern part of the southern aisle were probably formed during the Ottoman period. The rest of the aisle is timber-roofed. Today the building is abandoned and has been proclaimed unstable.
